Dr. Brian Glyn Williams is associate professor of Islamic History at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. Previously he lectured at the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies. He has PhD in Central Asian History from the University of Wisconsin and has a Master degree in Central Eurasian Studies and a Masters in Russian History from Indiana University.

He has written two books, the Crimean Tatars with Brill (Leiden, 2001) and Afghanistan 101. An Introduction to the Theater of Operations with U.S. Army Publications (San Antonio, 2008). His work in Islamic Eurasia has ranged from Kashmir to Kosovo and includes four trips to Afghanistan. Dr. Williams lived with the Northern Alliance warlord, General Abdul Rashid Dostum, in 2003 and 2005 and interviewed Taliban prisoners of war.
